SystemX Procuct
Yes, System X® products are formulated to be safe for all surfaces including your paint, and any paint protection film, or vinyl. Ceramic will not damage your clearcoat or paint and will not void any manufacturer warranties. We can apply ceramic coatings to glass, rims, plastic, trim, and interior surfaces.
No, System X® will not Crack, Peel, or Yellow. Our products have undergone SGS testing and real-life testing in some of the world's harshest environments and surpassed every one of them.
Yes, once System X® is applied you will never need to wax again. Cleaning your vehicle’s paint will be as easy as maintaining your glass/windshield. No need for abrasive washes or any waxes/sealants.
Yes, after System X® cures it becomes 6 times harder than paint. The coating is much more resistant to scratching. SystemX is a hardened glass coating, and while glass can still be scratched and chipped, it is much more resistant and thicker than your clearcoat.
Durability
Ceramic is a silica-based product, meaning it is a “glass” coating. Ceramic adds some rock chip resistance, but it can still get rock chips from larger stones and high speeds. The glass windshield on your vehicle will still get rock chips, just much less often than your clearcoat.
No, ceramic will not prevent water spots, but it WILL allow those pesky water spots to be easily removed without damaging the surface. Because ceramic creates a protective layer over the substrate, it does not allow the minerals to corrode or etch the surface that ceramic is protecting, prolonging the life of your metals, paints, gel coats, plastics, vinyl, etc. Ceramic is a silica-based/glass product and the glass on your windshield can still get water spots, but it is much more resistant to water spots than your clearcoat.
Yes, System X® Ceramic Coatings should be thought of as adding another clear coat to the paint's surface. This new clear coat is glossier, chemical resistant, and harder than the original clear coat. System X® is a permanent coating in the same sense that the clear coat on your aircraft is permanent. Eventually, the clear coat will wear away over the years; its overall longevity depends on conditions, cleaning frequency, proper application, and maintenance.
VINYL/WRAP: Ceramic will protect your vinyl from accidental spills, stains, oil/grime, and UV rays. Ceramic Pro is completely flexible and will not crack or peel from your vinyl. As with all surfaces, Ceramic offers a self-cleaning effect allowing your vinyl to be easily cleaned. Say goodbye to countless vinyl cleaning agents.
GLASS: Ceramics can be applied to all glass surfaces to act as a water-repellent.
CHROME: Ceramic does an excellent job protecting your chrome/polished finishes from corrosion, oxidation, and discoloration.
PAINT: applying ceramic to your paint is by far the best way to protect & prevent paint from fading over time.
CARPET/FABRIC: Ceramic can be applied to your upholstery to make it stain and spill-resistant. No more costly accidents inside your vehicle.
Application
The process for applying a ceramic coating is extensive. First, we prep wash the vehicle, then we do a paint decontamination and strip away anything that is bonded to your clear coat with a clay bar. Next, we prep your paint with an alcohol-based solvent to remove any final impurities. Then we go into a machine polish to even out the clear coat to remove any defects or swirl marks. Then we prep the paint again to remove any compound that might be left over. Finally, we apply the coating in small sections and use a special leveling towel to make sure the coating is leveled evenly.
The length of the job depends on how many scratches, swirl marks, and defects your clear coat has. The machine polish is the part that takes the most time in the ceramic coating process. If your paint is in new condition you can expect the job to be done within 4-5 hours. If your paint has heavier defects you can expect 8-12 hours of work.
Yes, at DrGloss we specialize in at-home ceramic coatings, we are one of very few detailers who can do this. With over 10 years of mobile experience, we have all the proper equipment to do a ceramic coating anytime, anywhere.
No, you don't need a paint correction before applying the coating, however, this is not recommended. The coating will still bond and protect your clear coat but the longevity of the coating could be affected due to uneven surface tension. Not to mention our ceramic coatings will lock in any swirl marks or defects for years to come so you want your paint looking its best before the coating is applied.
Maintenance
That’s the great thing about ceramic products. Water and a mild soap or dish soap will do the trick. Goodbye, harsh chemicals, clay bars, etc. Even glass cleaner or a No Rinse lubricant/wash will work to quickly and easily maintain your coating.
No, ceramic products are the permanent replacement to wax and sealants. You can throw those products in the trash!
Yes. To maintain your warranty, you need to attend an annual inspection + service. This is to ensure your coating performs properly for the entire length of the 10 year warranty. If an annual inspection is missed, the warranty could be voided.
You should wait 4-7 days before the 1st wash to allow the solvents to outgas and fully cure. If you notice that your car gets water spots, bird droppings, tree sap, etc. during these two weeks immediately remove it following our care instructions. Keep in mind the coating is softer during the first 4-7 days so work on the paint very gently.
